What is love?

To celebrate Valentine's Day at Tuvan State University, I asked my students to answer the question: What is love? I thought I'd share their answers with you...

Student A
What is love?
Love is when two people can’t live without each other. For them life becomes more interesting and fantastic. Every day they want to meet together, send a lot of messages to each other, and give presents during holidays. During their dates they dream about their future life and children, their home, and so on. (unclear sentence). I think these people are not serious. They are not ready to fall in love yet, not ready for family life. Sometimes love is very cruel. Because of love people die and commit suicide.

Love is great feelings. People without love can’t be alive. Almost every day people get married, have children and live together for the rest of their lives. People give presents to each other. Men give flowers and jewelry to their wives. For lovers, every day is like Valentine’s Day. Every day people fall in love. To be in love is very happy. I get only strong happy feelings from my boyfriend. We promise to love each other till the end of our lives.

In today’s world there isn’t a person who doesn’t love. Everybody loves. In my opinion, love is the greatest thing in the world. Love is a beginning to a happy life. For me, it is everything, I mean, my family, friends, nature, animals and my one single man who I love. But sometimes I think love brings suffering to people. There were times when I suffered a lot, because my boyfriend was far from Kyzyl. If a person is unhappy in love, he or she will be happy some other time. When I see my boyfriend, I melt. When I hear him, I smile and I have strong feelings for him. He is my love.

What is love?

Love is the feelings between two or more people. For men, love can have different meanings, for everything. For example: he loves his car very much, then his girlfriend, and so on (his school, his mum, his bed). But I think that love is something great. It is a spacious idea. Sometimes my friends ask me about love. They ask me “Can you believe in love? Do you believe in it?” Thinking about it, I come to the conviction that I can. Love helps us to hold up friendship, the attitude between people and so on. They say that between a man and a woman, there cannot be friendship without it growing into love.

Love, love it sounds wonderful.

Love is a fine feeling that expresses peace, quiet, jollity, and happiness.
I know love for my favorite mom. I love her so much that you yourself can’t imagine how I love her. I miss her when I can’t see my mom for four hours. Of course I miss her all the time, but I start to miss her so much when I don’t see her for four hours. I give my mother presents on all holidays and her birthday. I want her to be happy. I try not to offend her, but sometimes this happens. I don’t obey her, but I always do what she wants, even when I don’t like something so much, because my mom is the only person who is so valuable to me. I want to explain that she doesn’t make me do things I don’t like, but rather that she appreciates my choices. She is ahead of me, as I am her daughter, that’s why she tries to protect me from all bad things. And I understand it, understand her feelings.

Love is a magic word. When a person hears this word his eyes usually chine. And love is an abstract word. Love comes in different forms. There are a lot of feelings: love of children, love for country, love for mother, father, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother and, of course, everybody loves somebody who usually loves them too. If we make a list of different forms of love it will go on without end.
As for me, I believe that love between a man and a woman exists. It was so many years ago, and it is nowadays, and it will be in the future. Without love, life is not interesting for living creatures.

But some people don’t believe that love is part of the world. They say that attachment exists but not love. Of course, they have never proved that love does not exist.

Finally, I want to say that love is a wonderfully magical thing. It makes the world so beautiful and wonderful. Love each other forever!

Love. Everyone understands it in different meanings and for everyone it’s a great feeling. Love is that condition of our heart and our feelings when you want to cover the world with your love, when we are so tender and kind, more beautiful and always in a good mood, and when everything seems perfect. That’s love.

When you’re in love, problems are no problem for you, and winter feels mild even if it’s 50 degrees below zero outside, and you never want this kind of life to end or to stop. But unfortunately there are some cases when love dies and everything crashes in one moment and it seems you have lost the idea of your life, that there is no purpose to your being in this dull and dark world. But I think that it would be better if respect stayed instead of love, and good memories of love, even if love has gone. Don’t lose love and be loved forever. That’s the idea of the whole of our life.
